Its hard to deny that San Diego, CA with its beautiful beaches, theme parks and stunning skyline is a terrific vacation getaway. It turns out it is also a great city to do business in, and the PFG crew was happy to be able set up for and run the penultimate 2019 Ford Driving Skills for Life program under sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. The PFG logistics team was able to secure space at SDCCU stadium - formerly Chargers stadium.
All 4 sessions on the weekend program were close to capacity, and the program was run without a hitch. 2019 has been a an extremely productive year for the Ford DSFL program, and PFG is happy and honored to be the logistics and instructional team that has handled each of the U.S. based programs this year. Phoenix, AZ, home base for PFG, will the last 2019 program for the FDSFL schedule, and PFG is already hard at work securing sites and preparing all of the assets we use for a full 2020 schedule.
PFG in its longstanding relationship with the Ford Motor Company Fund, helped bring part of the award-winning Ford Driving Skills for Life program to a convention of the Florida chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The FDSFL Share the Road module, complete with virtual reality goggles, bikes and cars was made available to parents and teens attending the convention.
The Share the Road module of the FDSFL teen driver education program stresses the importance of making sure we all know, as parents and newly licensed teen drivers, that the road should be a shared space, and that everyone; pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicle operators have a responsibility to making that shared space safe.
Virtual reality goggles with a variety of scenarios are used to help cement the Share the Road message, and they "transport" the people that wear them into "real-world" situations both as cyclists and drivers. The effect is remarkable, as participants often feel that what they are seeing in the goggle is actually taking place around them!
PFG was responsible for bringing in the trained instructor team and shipping all of the required materials to the site. The PFG instructors then effectively managed the program, by setting up the displays and puting people through the module. The team did so with the PFG connection virtually unseen. As always, when PFG is involved, the program is all about the client and the participants - and we are happy to have it that way!
